The Île-de-France region has pledged EU 300 million to create a network of protected bicycle lanes connecting Paris with its suburbs. The money will go towards supporting the RER Vélo project, a network of nine bicycle lines connecting major centers in the Île-de-France region. The RER Vélo project was proposed by the Île-de-France Bicycle Collective, an advocacy network of 33 bicycle associations in the region that represents 80 municipalities.
