San Antonio's Public Works Department is piloting closing two residential streets to through-traffic to give pedestrians and cyclists more room for socially distanced exercise. The pilot is anticipated to run for four weeks in June, and was initiated with a proposal by two local grassroots organizations, ActivateSA and the Population Health Advisory Committee. Local traffic will still be permitted, and signs and barricades will be placed at the blocks leading into the repurposed streets along with warnings to watch for pedestrians.
