The Seoul Metropolitan Government and Korea Smart Card Company pilot contactless payments via facial recognition in public transport

Seoul Metropolitan Government with Korea Smart Card Company have initiated a pilot program for a contactless payment system using facial recognition technology. On the Ui-Sinsol line at 22 gates in 13 stations, payment via T-Money supports decreased physical contact and increased transit efficiency - components of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's “untact public transportation system” initiative. Payment can be processed with masks on and is being piloted first with employees and officials.
