Bengaluru decided to create 34 kilometers of pop-up cycle lanes along one of its busy IT corridors - the Outer Ring Road. The proposal would see the creation of 1.5 metre cycle lanes on the service roads and separated by bollards. This project was initiated by civil society - including the city's Bicycle Mayor and organisations like World Resources Institute - pushed the influential Commissioner of the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) to replicate the efforts taken by cities such as Bogota.
