Beverly Hills automates walk signals to protect public health

Beverly Hills activated touchless, timed crossings at 58 (70% of) signalized city intersections. Signs at each crossing instruct pedestrians not to press the buttons, per recommendation of the National Association of City Transportation Officials regarding different ways municipalities can stop the spread of COVID-19. Instead of monitoring the presence of cars and pedestrians, traffic lights are programmed to display a "Walk" symbol every 60-90 seconds.
